September Emerging Professionals Meeting (Sacramento)Design and Construction of Two Mile Bar Tunnel for Oakdale Irrigation DistrictPresentation by Ron Skaggs, PE, GE – Condor Earth The presentation will include planning, design, and construction management aspects of the recently completed Two Mile Bar Tunnel, a 6000-ft long water conveyance tunnel in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Tuolumne and Stanislaus counties. Geotechnical aspects of tunnel design and construction will be covered, including site geology, geotechnical baseline conditions, construction management of changed ground conditions, and design changes due to encountered ground conditions. Ron Skaggs is Principal Engineer and Vice President of Engineering of Condor Earth, an employee-owned geotechnical and environmental consulting firm with offices in Sonora, Stockton, and Rancho Cordova, California. Mr. Skaggs obtained a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from California State University, Fresno, and a Master of Engineering from University of California, Davis. Mr. Skaggs is a licensed Civil Engineer in California and Nevada, Geotechnical Engineer in California, and a licensed Hazardous Waste Contractor in California.
